Little ass Richmond VA has put itself on the chaotic map again fellas! We got bent over by tropical storm Gaston! Let me give you the good news first, which is that things really got bad when I was home on my lunch break, and I couldn't make it back to work. Bad news was, I figure this out while driving in a foot and a half of water on Broad Street. It's not quite as bas as when we got hammered by Isabel, but there was much more water this time, turning Main and Cary streets that aim down a steep hill downtown to Shokoe bottom into rapid rivers. Shokoe Bottom is where all those photos were taken of the several hundred cars piled up like several hundred cars piled up. Five people in the city and burbs were killed. Shokoe Bottom is our version of Georgetown, only the people who frequent the bars suck, and undoubtedly will start going to the Fan bars that i go to and keep sucking. And that sucks worst of all. Oh, except the five people who got killed.

I too suffered the wrath of the tropical storm. A waterfall started raining down from the ceiling and didn't stop for hours. Then the power went out. Luckily I love chaos, because it definitely would have sucked otherwise...

Hey my own philosophy is that chaos is great, as long as it happens to someone else. So you can be down about your waterfall. But for me personally, that's great! I hope this next hurricane caves your ceiling in. When did you move here anyway?

<<Hey my own philosophy is that chaos is great, as long as it happens to someone else.>>
That's the philosophy of the whole site! It's great as long as it doesn't happen to you or a loved one.
Sounds like you fellers saw some chaos. I think based on this I might have to ammend the Top 10 Chaos Cities...Richmond is pretty bad ass when it comes to chaos. I can't deny it.

Stay tuned for a piece called, "Richmond's lower population therefore yields higher per capita chaos" or something like that.

I moved here only a couple of weeks ago. I already liked the city, but now that i've experienced a flood, I LOVE the city. And fuck, rumor has it a hurricane is going to be coming through.
My personal philosophy of chaos is that minor chaos is fine for me to personally experience, but shit like death and destuction is better left for others, especially people i don't like.

another added bonus to our biblical downpour: The hallway to my office passes a room where the office complex water controls are at, and it overloaded and flooded the hallway, so now the hallway smells like a yeast infection.

Jesus. That's nasty. Hey I just talked to Bob down in Florida. They've ordered his town to evacuate but he says he's going to stay put. Apparently, the highways are all mobbed anyway so at this point you're better off staying in your house than on the highway. I asked him to give us hourly updates to the message board but I doubt that'll happen. I also had a good idea for a "Hurra-Cam" that he could set up down there, so we could all join in the fun. That's not happening either, but we'll have it set up by next season.
